Nissan Repair: Temperature gauge not reading, erratic action, temperature gauge

Question
hi Calvin i just purchased a second hand 1994 Nissan Pulsar lx limited and the tempertaute gauge was reading zero but now every time i start up the motor the needle freely moves around from 0 passed the red and back from the engine vibrating the car and when i got over bumps it jumps around. DO you know how to fix this?

Answer
Hi Benjamin -

Check the temp sensor. Should be located near the water outlet for the radiator and has a couple wires conneted to it. Look for a hex shaped threaded device.

Remove the connector and check the gauge. if it still acts the same, then it might be the gauge itself causing the erratic action. If not, then replace the sensor.

Hope this helps -
