Nissan Repair: Nissan idle problem, nissan sentra 2001, mass airflow sensor

Question
QUESTION: Ey, I have a Nissan sentra 2001 that has an idle problem.  When I stop in a red light and then start going when the rpm is from 1000 to 2000 the idle starts to jump, but if I give it gas it will be normal.  So basically i can't go slow.  I just changed the icv and the tps, but still that little problem.

ANSWER: Alberto,

I would check the mass airflow sensor since you have replaced the usual suspects and the MAF usually does not throw a code.

QUESTION: you think the mass airflow sensor is causing the car to turn off the engine like when im trying to back up or turning the wheels.

ANSWER: Alberto,

If you are in drive, regardless of reverse or forward, the idle adjusts itself using the mass airflow sensor, the manifold absolute pressure sensor and this information is fed to the idle air control valve.  When you turn the steering wheel there is a pressure switch on the power steering line that lets the computer know that it needs to bump up the idle.  With all this, I would first clean the throttle body and the idle air control valve and if that does not do the trick I would look at the mass airflow sensor and the throttle position switch.  You did not say if there were any codes.

QUESTION: It doesn't throw any codes.  I have another question, my ac doesn't work but the worst thing is that it throws the air hot like the heater even if is in cold.

Thanks for your help, really appreciated.

Answer
Alberto,

You will need to get a set of gauges to check system pressures to be sure.  I would say evacuate the system and recharge it with the recommended amount listed on the under hood sticker.  Problems range from low refrigerant to a defective expansion valve.
