Nissan Repair: uneven idle, accelerator pedal, solenoid

Question
Hi Calvin
Sorry i've just got back to you, i did have my terrano diagnostically checked twice 1st time can up with a relay which didn't work and now fault codes indicate maf sensor, throttle sensor and limit indicator on the pump. The problem has got a lot worse, i tried a second hand Maf but it didn't work. Is the idle solenoid you talked about the same thing as the throttle sensor located at the top of the throttle pedal? which plug shall i disconnect there is two.
Thanks for your help
Clare

Answer
Hi Clare -

I am sorry, I do not quite remember your request. I answer so many questions daily, I get confused, which isn't so hard to begin with, I must add . .

Anyway, I think your issue is that your idle races, up and down, up and down? Was that it? I am thinking there should be some sort of solenoid, or fast idle (for cold starts) actuator at the end of the accelerator pedal cable in the engine compartment. If you look at it closely, there is a plunger that rests against the stop for the throttle. If you see that plunger moving in and out of the solenoid while idling, then try to disconnect the wire and see if it still does it. If it stops, perhaps it could be the sensor, which is signaling the computer to raise/lower the idle. If you want the location of this sensor, I will need the year of your vehicle.

Thanks
