Nissan Repair: Fuel Gage, 2004 nissan maxima, nissan maxima

I just bought a used 2004 Nissan Maxima, I filled up the gas tank to full. Now the gage is on the wrong side of empty past the stopper. When I turn the key over, it want to go to full. But it is stoped by the stopper on empty

Hi Javier -

Looks like you have a defective sending unit. This is located in your gas tank. The whole assembly is a fuel pump, strainer, float and sending unit. It does come as one whole assembly. Unfortunately to access it you have to remove your fuel tank.

Did the previous owner replace the fuel pump? Could be that while it was being replace 2 wires could have been reversed. might want to check that one -
