Nissan Repair: 1993 Pathfinder transmission sensor or relay???, torque converter, odd sound

Question
While accelerating normally the vehicle lost all gears. The wife said she never really heard any noise but it felt like the  transmission just "let go". The vehicle was still running and doesn't have any trouble starting. It's an automatic and when you go from park into reverse nothing happens. There is no odd sound like whining or anything. this is the case throughout all gears. The only one that seems to work is park and of course nuetral. When in any gear except park, the vehicle can easily be pushed forward or backward without any resistance. The fluid is topped up and there isn't any visible damage that I can see that might be the cause. In short, with the exception of park all gears act like nuetral. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Answer
Rick,

Sounds like the torque converter is blown and not allowing any gear selection.  The only other thing that would cause this is a blown pump in the transmission.  But, from my experience it is most probably the torque converter and that means a transmission rebuild along with a torque converter.
