where is starter on a 96 nissan xe and how do i fix it

Hi Kevin -

I am sorry, you did not mention the engine size, so I am not sure where the starter is located, however, if you follow the positive side of the battery cable, it is at the end of it. Somwtimes it sits right st the top of the engine, or it could be under the intake manifold.

Ensure that the negative side of the battery cable is disconnected before starting work. The starter is usually mounted with 2 or 3 bolts, I think 14mm size. There are also some wires you need to disconnect, one large one coming from the battery, and a smaller one for the solenoid.

Replacing is the oppostie of removal. I would suggest a new starter as opposed to a rebuilt.
