Nissan Repair: no fuel, fuel pressure regulator, resistance measurements

Question
Hi,
I have a 91 Nissan p/u 4x4 with KA24E engine.I drove my truck approx. 10 mi.shut it off and a few min. later I tried to start it but it wouldn't start.it just turns over.I got it home and figured out I wasn't getting any fuel,so, I assumed it was the fuel pump since there was no fuel going into the fuel filter after I cleaned it.I have a parts truck so I just switched fuel tanks.still wont start.no fuel going to filter.I can get the truck to start by priming the carb with fuel.but can't figure out why fuel is not being pumped.I also straight wired my old pump and it works.I'm stumped.can you help? thanks

Answer
Chuck,

First,

Check the fuel pressure.  Second, check the fuel pressure relay.  If the relay is good replace the pump.  If not replace the relay.  Also, check the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel filter.  Lastly, check the fuel injectors with a volt ohm meter using a Haynes Manual for the proper resistance measurements to make sure none are stuck.  And, do a leakdown check to see if any are leaking after the engine is shut off by seeing if the pressure leaks off quickly after you shut off the engine.  You can check the plugs to see which are black and wet and those injectors for those cylinders are leaking if so.
