Nissan Repair: 91 Pathfinder 4x4 transmission prob., water intrusion, wd40

Question
I have a 91 Pathfinder SE-V6 4x4. I ran the truck through some really deep water this weekend and now the trans will not shift into drive, I have first and second when shifting manually or when the selector is in "D" but when it shifts into 3rd (at around 4000 RPMs or 40 MPH) it just stops pulling.  Thanks

Answer
Joseph,

Seals are supposed to keep fluids in and not water out.  My bet is the transmission has water in it and needs to have the fluid changed.  Also, I would check the rear end and front end for water intrusion too.  Now, on the automatic transmission the electrical connectors probably have water in them too and that means they will have to be unplugged and sprayed with WD40 and then blown out with compressed air to get the water out.
