Nissan Repair: 2001 Nissan Quest, nissan quest, lcd readout

My 2001 QUEST has less than 60k, but lately there has been a squeak in the steering wheel when I turn, idle surge, and from time to time the ignition locks and the key will not turn.  Also, my lcd readout on my entertainment system has gone out (everything still works just no lcd).  At less than 60k I would think I would still have a lot of life in this van, but so many things seem to be failing on me.  Any thoughts?

Yes, you are going through the "5 year season". Only you have lasted a little longer.

Anyway, try the following:

For the steering - tighten or replace the steering belt. It is run by the engine, and the surge you feel and squeak you hear could be the belt slipping.

Ignition locks - spray some non residue lubricant (such as silicone or graphite) into your ignition lock where you insert your key. Work it several times, and you should be good to go.

LCD readout - Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about this short of replacing the unit. Same thing haoppened to my vehicle.
