Nissan Repair: 98 Nissan Altima Odometer problem, vehicle speed sensor, vehicle speed sensor vss

Iam having problems with the 98 Nissan Altima Odometer it is not working any more do I need to get ot replaced with a new one or it can be repaired.

Either the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is defective or the speedometer itself is defective.  Usually, the VSS is what goes bad first.  The VSS is s simple replacement from a parts store.  Plugs into the transmission and has a bolt to retain it.  The speedometer is a repair if you can find a shop.  Otherwise, you could find a wrecking yard and source one that way.  Also, there is google and ebay you could look at.
