Nissan Repair: 95 XE pickup diagnostic code 42, vent lines, nissan vehicles

Question
I have the KA24E engine.  The check engine light is on and I performed the self diagnostic on the ECU which indicated code 42.  However, from KA24E specific info there isn't supposed to be a code 42.  Code 42 on other Nissan vehicles is "Fuel Temperature Sensor".  Would this same code apply to my truck?  If so, where would this sensor be located?  Thank you.  By the way, the check engine light used to come on only briefly on cold mornings while the truck warmed, now the light stays on even when it is warm.

Answer
Joe,

I hate to say this but you probably have two codes running.  I would check the fuel pump to see if it is overheating and that the fuel pressure is correct.  That is what that code is telling you.  The fuel pump is overheating.  Second, if the light only came on for a little when the vehicle was started would lead me to think the evaporative system might have a leak.  Check the fuel vent lines, cap and clamps for the fuel system to make sure they are tight.
