Classic/Antique Car Repair: NO Lights, good luck jack, jumper wire

Question
QUESTION: I can't get any lights to work including brake lights. I know I have power to the light switch and yes the horn does work. The car runs great but no lights. What tests do you know that can help me with this.

ANSWER: Look for a fuse in the light circuit.  If power is getting to the light switch and not getting out, then the prob is with the switch.  Check the bail that holds everything together.  That may have slipped.  Disconnect the pod and reposition it.
That's about all I can suggest at this point.  The horn is on a separate wire.  The light switch is not very complicated, but it is very busy in there.  I assume you have a wiring diagram.  If you have to take the switch apart, just follow the circuits.  I think it just needs to be seated again.
Good luck.

QUESTION: What about adding an additional ground wire from the engine to the frame. Will that help as I know that I am putting the bail back together the right way. I think I will also concentrate on just the brake light circuit to see if I can get that going. I know it has to be something easy and there is not a fuse for the lighting circuit on this car.

Answer
Yes, most of us use a ground strap from the bell hsg. to the frame.  You can see if this helps by just connecting a jumper wire from the engine to the frame.  Also, use an ohm meeter to make sure the lamps are really grounded to the frame.  I am sure it is something simple.
