Nissan Repair: 97 maxima transmission repair, shaft seals, transmission repair

Question
Just had my 97 maxima transmission rebuilt (150,000 miles):
Some of what they did is exchange torque conferter, pump assy, planetary geartrain, filters, etc. and I took it back to them 2 days later because of fluid drips, they put in
2 axle seals (?) on both ends and there is still a fluid drip. They say to wait a few more days - probably just residual and will quit dripping. Does that sound true...after $2800????  They were recommended and
all they work on is transmissions. I am really skeptical.
What do you think?

Answer
John,

The shaft seals do tend to leak for a while after new ones are installed due to wear in.  If they are still leaking have them replaced again.  If the transmission works properly this is minimal and I would stay after them until the leak is corrected.  Also, you could wash the underside of the car with engine cleaner and a hose to get rid of residual to make sure the leak is corrected.  I do not like a leaky car either.
