Nissan Repair: 2004 Nissan Sentra - Dash lights, nissan sentra, shift assembly

Question
We just purchased a 2004 Nissan Sentra.  There are no dash lights behind the temperature switch, the radio on/off button, and the gear shift box.  Is that standard or do you think it's a fuse or bulb problem?

Answer
Hi Gail -

If other lights are working behind the dash, it is a bulb issue. The bulb is very inexpensive and should be available at any auto parts store, just ensure you have the vehicle information for them.

Installing them is another story, though - sorry to report (LOL). The instrument panel will have to be removed to replace the temp gauge bulb, gear shift assembly also has to be removed to get to that bulb, and the radio on/off, without lookig at it I cannot tell, but if the switch itself is supposed to be illuminated, I don;t think there is anything you can do short of replacing the radio, however of the back plate is supposed to be lighted, then, again, you will have to remove the radio assembly to gain access to the bulb.

hope this helps -
