Nissan Repair: xterra cat converter repacement, cat converter, road dirt

Question
I took my xterra to the dealers service center to have the cat converter repaced. they had the part so I made an appointment and dropped the car off yesterday at 8 am they say they are still working on it as of 10 am today. Is my chain being yanked or what?

Answer
John,

This is just a bolt on replacement that requires just a few hours to complete.  The problem with dealerships is that they have so much work on backlog that your vehicle might have to sit until someone gets around to completing the work.  This is normal and they are not jerking you around.  Other issues that come up have to do with it being an exhaust part and sometimes bolts break off since they have been exposed to road dirt and water along with getting hot and colt over they years and that really makes them difficult to get off.
