Nissan Repair: 97 altima vibration, nissan altima, uneven surfaces

Question
I have a '97 Nissan Altima that runs great except for @ highway speeds. It has plenty of power and runs great while under acceleration but @ 60+ mph when I let off the gas it has a bad vibration. It does not seem to be tire related. I have put it in neutral and coasted @ 60+ speed and still get the Vibe. It is an auto with 135K

Answer
HI Dave -

I think it is tire related. There are 2 things you can check. First, if you feel the vibartion on the steering wheel, you will need to check the front tire. If the vibration feels like the entire car, then it is the rear.

1. The vibration at high speeds seems to be the tire balancing. Take it to your repair shop and have that done.

2. Secondly, you can check the tire itself. A lot of times air gets between the plys and it becomes out of round. Kneel down in front of the wheel and run your hand (your rntire hand, not just fingers) along the tread of the tire. If you feel bumps, or uneven surfaces, then replace tire.

Hope this helps Dave -
thanks
