Nissan Repair: 1996 Nissan Maxima gle, nissan maxima gle, nissan maxima

Question
QUESTION: My nissan maxima gle has its check engine light on. Whn i sart it it starts great but when i drive it its like i need to push the accelerator more to make it move. When i change gear from say drive to reverse its does it slow. It takes a while for it to go. My brake lights also on even though my hand brake is off. I dont know whats going on with it. if anyone knows the answer to this please let me know.

ANSWER: Randy,

Go to Autozone or Checker to get the check engine light read for free.  Email me back with the code and we'll go from there on that one.  The brake light could be the parking brake indicator switch not being depressed or the brake system needing a repair like a new master cylinder or someting like old brake fluid causing an imbalance.

QUESTION: i trook it to the shop today... the brake light was on becasue the front two brakes needed to be replaced and the check engine light is on because the oxygen censor needs to be replaced.

Answer
Randy,

That is cool that thebrake pads were only in need or replacement and the oxygen sensor is probably long overdue.  Supposedly, every fifty-thousand miles the oxygen sensors should be replaced to make them effective.  But, no one does and we just wait until they finally get out of range.  Thanks for sharing and these are pretty simple and inexpensive repairs.  You just gotta love the Maxima.
