Nissan Repair: 1996 Altima, starter solenoid, battery acid

Question
I purchased an Altima, bought a new battery, changed the spark plugs, the distributor, and the wires.  The car drove fine for about a week and then wouldn't start one morning.  It just clicks when you try to start it.  Any thoughts?

Answer
Hi Kristi -

A couple things you can check.

First of all, make sure you have a good connection on the battery. Sometimes the battery acid gets to the terminals and you lose a good cinnection, and the car will only click when you try to start it.

If the connections are clean, then try to turn your headlights on. If the lights are strong, then it is not the battery, as there could be a chance that you have a defective battery.

With that said, it is probably your starter solenoid, you will be better off buying a starter assembly, including the solenoid so you do not have to worry.

Hope this helps -
