Nissan Repair: 1996 nissan quest engine stalls on stop, air control valve, quest engine

Question
My Nissan quest engine dies when on a stop light.  It happens as the engine begins to warm up.  It will start right away when placed on park after it stalled.  It runs good at higher speed until it slows down or go to a complete stop.  It is doing it more often.  Sometimes it will idle at a stop light, and when I start to take off then slow down the engine stalls.  Please help.

Answer
Willie,

If the plugs are old change them.

Another cause can be the idle air control valve sticking or the idle dashpot that dampens the throttle closing could be broken.  Look on the throttle body where the throttle stop is and if the plunger does not extend when the throttle is off idle and then dampen the closing just before the throttle plate shuts that would mean it is defective.  Also, check the throttle position switch and the manifold absolute pressure switch.
