Nissan Repair: about warning lights, stop car, warning lights

Question
About half year ago, in a heavy rain night, both "Brake(the word Brake)" and the "Charger(a battery image) warning lights were on when I was driving. After about 2 hours parking, both lights were off when I restarted the engine.

The same thing happened about 1~2 times in the following 3~4 months. But, it happened very often during these two weeks. I found that the lights were mostly on when the car went down the slope. Once the lights are on, they will not off until I turn off the engine. I check the brake fluid level and it's normal.

Is the problem caused by the Alternator?
Please kindly advise. Thanks!

Answer
Yes, a low charging voltage from the alternator can cause what you are describing. What is probably happening is the brushes in the alt are starting to fail, or stick. To determine that it is the alt, and not a wiring problem. When the lights are on stop car put into park and lightly tap on the alternator case with a wooden handle do not use anything metal as you could short the alt causing a fire! If the light immediately goes out the alternator is at fault.
