Nissan Repair: Nissan ECCS optical pickup, crank angle sensor, s12 silvia

Question
Hi i have a Nissan 200sx s12 silvia that im doing some major rebuilding on, one of the things im adding is a new efi system but i cant seem to get the optical pickup to work since there is very little information about it available.
i have a red a black a white and a green cable from the distrubutor, so far only thing i am shure about is that black is ground (now there's a shocker :) ) i could asume red is +12v but since i only have one distrubutor i rather not melt it by misstake. green and white should be signal out from the pickup.
Any sugestions or info about this crank angle sensor would help
is my theory correct or should i just sell the car and get a bike instead? :)

Answer
Jonas,

The optical system is used to send a signal to the ECM to fire the spark plugs.  To get the injectors to fire there is another cam position sensor that is used.  I would get a Haynes Manual for a fuel injected Nissan and follow the schematic to understand which wires feed that information to the ECM.  Then, mount that sensor and wire it in.  I assume yours is an older model and you are working up to get the new system to work...  Email me back if you need more.
