Nissan Repair: 2001 Nissan Xterra tranny fuse blowing, nissan xterra, transmission work

Question
I just had my transmission rebuilt on my 2001 Nissan Xterra. Now the A/T fuse keeps blowing when I attempt to start the car by turning the ignition key. Could the blown fuse have anything to do w/ the transmission work? Right now I can start the car by jumping it off the battery w/ a wire to the starter, I think (my boyfriend made this work)...but when I drove it back to the tranny folks, the car had to be manually shifted from 1st gear to Drive and the check engine light is on the entire time. Obviously, I don't want to do more damage...I just want to fix whatever keeps causing the fuse to blow. Thank you very much.

Answer
Ginger,

Sounds like the transmission has a direct short to ground and that is causing the fuse to blow.  Also, the transmission shift computer or a servo, internally, might be causing the problem.  I would take the vehicle back and have the transmission folks run a diagnostics on the unit.
