Nissan Repair: Nissan 2004 Quest Van Part Replacement, snap ring, screws

How do I remove the shift handle to remove the old circular console top and replace it.  It was discolored and I have purchased another one, but don't know how to remove the shift so I can remove the old one.  The console top just clips in so I have already lifted the old one up.  Thanks!

I am trying to remember if there are a couple of screws on the back side of the shift handle or that you pull the button and there is a snap ring that has to be removed.  Check these two out and I will try to find a representative vehicle to look at.  If you would like you could email me a photo at vonsudderth@hotmail.com and I will be able to tell you from the photo.  I do not do much on Quest Vans and am sorry that I am not more helpful.
