Nissan Repair: 1995 Altima SE Manual Transmission, transmission shop, transaxle

Question
My transmission is leaking oil for about 2 yrs.  It is not red oil.  I had the seal changed recently and still leaking.  The car runs nicely but leaking.  I took it to a transmission shop and they said it was the differential bearing.  I took it to someone else and they said it wasn't.  One mechanic said he would replace the seal and put silicone around the seal so it won't leak anymore.
My car has 213K and the original clutch.  I am afraid the car will run out of oil and die.  THere is no noise when I drive.  One guy change the seal.  I went to work the next day as I was leaving 1K after driving the car wouldn't move.  It reved. I had it towed to the mechanic.  I guess he didn't place the transaxle back properly.  I went back to work and found a huge puddle of oil where my car was parked.  Did this do any more damage.  I just want to stop the leak because I am afraid I will run out of transimmision oil and it will die.  What do you think it is and what should I do.  I don't have the money to buy a new vehicle and the car still looks great except for this problem.

Answer
Rawa,

As long as you get to a shop and have the seal corrected (replaced or resealed) and keep the level to the fill port you should be fine.  The bearing should be replaced if it has not as this is a known issue with a car with so many miles.  The bearing gets loose and that lets the shaft go to one side more than the seal can compensate for.  So, replace the differential bearing if it has not been replaced.
