Nissan Repair: Water leak in Nissan Pathfinder, nissan pathfinder, water leak

I have a 1988 2 door nissan pathfinder that has developed a water leak just where the fan connects to the engine. i would appreciate any advice on how to make the repair. It looks 'easy' but I thought I'd ask first. Is there a guide or website you can point me to? I'd rather learn than pay someone else to do it. Thanks for your help. Regards Michael

well the first thing to do is to exactly pinpoint where this leak is coming from.  clean the surrounding area with a rag and turn on your engine and watch where the leak is coming from.  if its from a hose, its simple to change, just a few screws and replace.  but i cant help but think you may have a leaky water pump or a possible crack in the block from your description of the location.  if this is the case, i highly suggest taking it to a shop because this is a more difficult task and you can create a much more expensive problem in the end if done incorrectly.  i hope this helps Michael.  good luck and let me know how this turns out.
