Nissan Repair: Hood Release, nissan sentra, plyers

I have a 1989 Nissan Sentra. When I pull on the hood release, under the steering wheel, it will not pop up the hood. Usually you hear a pop or see the hood go up a little, then you have to go in front of the car and slide the lever to pop up the hood. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could have a broken cable or it might just need lubrication.  You can get a WD40 nozzle through the front to where the linkage goes and under the dash where the release is.  If it turns out the cable is broken under the hood it will be a remote control thing with a screwdriver to get the release.  You will have to bend it into a J Hook to access the pivot plate for release.  If it is broken under the dash it is just a matter of a pair of plyers and then replace the cable and linkage.
