Nissan Repair: 2001 Nissan Sentra, nissan sentra, transmission work

Question
the check engine light is on and the transmission is not shifting correctly. Is this a related problem? Engine light is probably the O2 sensor. What about the Trans? It doesn't slip  just shifts hard and most of the time you need to take you foot off the gas before it will shift.

Answer
Paul,

The check engine light could be the transmission since the computer shifts it too.  I would go to Autozone or Checker and get the code read for free.  The transmission could be that the fluid needs to be changed or something more serious as the governor is plugging up.  It would a good investment to change the fluid.  If this does not correct the problem go to Cottman Transmissions and have them check it out.  That is, unless you have a place you trust.  I have had good luck with Cottman so that is where I take transmission work.
