Nissan Repair: Should my shocks go out this quick, 2005 nissan altima, nissan altima

I have a 2005 Nissan Altima and I went to go get the oil changed and the 5 point inspection and the repair shop told me that my back rear shock are pretty much shot. my car has 38K on it and i live in the city so no tough terrain. if they are bad what would cause this? thanks

I would be going to a different repair shop as I cannot see shocks or struts going this soon.  As a minimal I would take it to a dealer and have them do an inspection.  DO not tell them about what the other shop said and just get the second opinion and you will probably see that there is nothing wrong with the car.  If the shocks were really bad you would have to be doing something like the Dukes of Hazard to get the seals to blow this soon...
