Nissan Repair: 95 nissan maxima no start, nissan maxima, compression check

Question
QUESTION: hi my maxima doesnt start. the car was built before 95.  the code that im getting is a crank position sensor ref. i did all the steps in all data but cant figure it out.  i saw that there was a tsb for 95s built before 95 that the ecm goes bad but i got a junkyard one and matched it to the one that i had but it didnt work it cranks but no spark. do you have any idea or seen any of these issue any advise is greatly appreciated.
ANSWER: Jesus,

If yours cranks but does not have power to the coil you might be looking at the ignition fuse and the fuse link to the coil.  I would back probe the harness from the coil back and before I did that I would put the original ECM back in the car.  If there is a crank position sensor code replace that before you do anything.  Now, with the original EMC was it not turning over?  And, with the wrecking yard one it turned over but would not start?  Email me back with the information on the last two and I will know more.

QUESTION: i have a spare crank position sensor and i also tested them like it says in the bookand they are both good.  also the ecus both due the same thing but i noticed that the computer that was in there was replaced before it has writing like the paint from the junk yard so im basically stump.  it cranks but no spark and after like 2 or 3 seconds of cranking it feel like the engine is is locked up hard to turn over and then ill crank again and the same but i bared the engine over and it spins freely. im stumped

Answer
Jesus,

Do a compression check to see if the compression on each cylinder is around 180 PSI plus or minus 10 PSI.  Also, do a static timing check to see if the engine has jumped timing.  That is, turn the crank to TDC and see where the cam timing is.  You could have jumped timing and that is causing the no start and the almost locking up thing.  Email me back with what you find.
