Nissan Repair: Turn Flashers..2003 Exterra, separate cars, hazard lights

Question
Rob Hi....My TURN flashers do not work. All Iam getting when operating the turn flashers is the Emergency warning Flasher. I have checked the fuses and they are good. Nissan wants to charge me $175 for a diagnostic, then charge me to fix it.Its a rip!!!
I thought maybe it was the plug for the "Flashers" which I bought , but dont know where it goes? It would be great if you could help me out...any ideas?..Hilton Whittaker

Answer
hi, i would love to help you out here because that bill is way over ridiculous for them just to look at it.  i really need some more information on this.  you say when you put your signal on, lets say to make a left turn, once you signal, both of your signal lights on your DASH blink at the same time...as your hazard lights would do?  what i would check for first is to sit in your car and turn on the left directional signal light and get out of your car and check if both front and back signal lights are working.  now turn on your right signal light and get out and check to see if the front and back are working on the passenger side.  also do this test with the hazard.  if one light isn't working then it would show up when you turned your signal light on.  on 2 separate cars i had a bulb go out, on the first car i had the light blink twice as fast (on the dash) and on the second car i had a light that was constantly on and the other one came on when i went in that direction.  check for a blown bulb, this would only cost you 5 dollars at most.  im not sure what you are talking about when you say "plug for the flashers", if you can let me know some more information on this, and possibly a part number i can guide you through that next step.  check for the bulbs and if thats fine, let me know about that plug.  i would love to save you some money.  dealerships = rip off.  let me know how this turns out.  xxp_sebby@yahoo.com
