Nissan Repair: 1998 nissian 200sx ser, work car, empty bottle

Question
When driving the engine shuts off completely.  All gauges (tach, speedometer, temp, and fuel as well as idiot lights go off) but radio,lights etc work.  Car will crank but not start.  After a fill minutes idiot will again work, car will start and run great.  Where should I look for problem???

it sounds to me like you have an ignition coil problem (cutting off spark) or you may have a fuel problem, possible a fuel relay turning the pump off after a certain amount of time or amount of heat in the relay.  when this happens again, see if you have fuel coming past the fuel filter.  a good way to test this is when this problem happens again, take an empty bottle with a cap (16 oz), remove the line after the fuel pump and place the line into the empty bottle.  turn the key just once and turn it off (allow 2-4 seconds with ignition on, dont try to start).  this will test to see if your fuel pump is working.  now check the bottle.  if there is gas, then you have an ignition problem (ignition coil) and if you dont have gas, then its the relay/fuse/fuel pump.  dispose of bottle properly!  i hope this helps!! good luck.  let me know what you find out.  xxp_sebby@yahoo.com
