Nissan Repair: 00 maxima torque converter locked up, torque converter clutch, torque converter clutch solenoid

Question
I have a 2000 maxima se, I recently was doing some work on it witch involved unplugging the wires that go to the tranny that run the solenoids in the valve body. long story short , forgot the wires unplugged, took it for a (short)test drive. till the torque converter locked up. problem is it wouldn't un-lock (almost left me stranded). I plugged the wires in, cleared the codes, disconnected the battery, nothing, still locked up! so I pulled the tranny , brought it to a reputable shop, had them check the converter, solenoids, and valve body. found nothing. put the tranny back in and converter is still locked. checked codes and torque converter clutch solenoid system came up (P0740) checked and changed fuses, changed relays- any ideas why torque converter would stay locked??

Answer
Randy,

Either the converter is locked up inside which would mean a replacement or the transmission computer that locks the converter is defective.  A Nissan shop with a Consult II can do a diagnostic check to see which event is happening.  Real time look at the system while it is driven.  If the computer is working properly and it is still locked up it would mean the converter is bad.
