Nissan Repair: 2000 Nissan Exterra, 2000 nissan exterra, water barrier

Question
The rear door lock(electric) does not unlock with the remote access intially.  However, the lock will acuate with several pushes of the unlock button. All other locks(electric)do function immediately. Question: How do we remove the rear door panel?  I've removed 4 bolts, but the panel won't come off. Is there a way to check the solenoid for malfunction? Thank you for the time and happy holidays-

Answer
Don,

The solenoid is sticking.  This could require a replacement or just lubrication and the rod might just be bent from someone opening the handle while the lock was being actuated to open it.  To remove the door panel you will need to get a panel removal tool or a putty knife to get between the panel and the door.  After you remove all the screws, whick I think you have, you simply slide the tool between the panel and the door and pry out and the clips pop out.  Do this along the bottom first and work your way up each side until all are loose.  Make sure while you are doing this you note that you have not left any screws in so as not to damage the panel.  There is a screw for the handle hold and the opener and the other two.  Once the panel is loose lift it up and unplug the electrical connector and set the panel to the side.  Now, pull the plastic sheet off to gain access.  Be sure to tape anything up if you tear the plastic as it acts as a water barrier.  The solenoid can be seen now and it is just a matter of actuating it and figuring out what the problem is from those indicated above.
