Nissan Repair: 2000 nissan maxima check engine, nissan maxima, vacuum leak

Question
I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima 3.1 and the check engine light came on.  The vehicle knockes excessively at low RPM with a load and doesn't have the power it used to have, my guess was fuel delivery.  I checked the code, lean fuel mixture bank 1.  I replaced the o2 sensor, in fact, both bank 1 & 2 with no change.  A mechanic said that a fuel filter may cause the lean condition, however, I discovered that the fuel filter is a screen in the fuel tank with the pump.  I sprayed carb cleaner all around the intake and hoses, no change in rpm.  I'm at a loss, as are two mehanics that I know, one of which specializes in forign vehicles.  Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks,

Frank

Answer
HI Frank and Happy Holidays,

I wish I had the code number because what it says doesn't always mean what it says. I looked at this but there are too many things that can cause this. I will need the code number. Anything from a bad harness to a vacuum leak. Not likely the fuel filter, which is located in the tank but can be accessed from under the back seat cushion. This is not the problem though. Please let me know what the code number is. There are 2 dozen codes for this and this will tell me what you need to do.
