Nissan Repair: 89 maxima trans. OD slip, snake oil, many cars

89 maxima slip in OD chatters on hills. 90K on the odometer.Is there anything that can be done short of R&R a rebuilt trans? Fluid change & no slip snake oil already been done, no effect. ??

Sounds like the clutch for overdrive is gone.  It will require a rebuild.  Be sure the shop uses quality components and if the pump shows signs of wear replace it.  A new pump is around $100 bucks and the extra money is worth it if you plan on keeping the vehicle.  I like Cottman since they have done me right on many cars and have not taken advantage of me like the other guys...  Your choice here due to where you live and what it available.  Be sure to get an alignment after it is done since the settings will be off from taking the CV driveshafts out.  That is, unless the guys doing the job only take the ent8ire drivetrain out to get the transmission out.
