Nissan Repair: 2004 Sentra starting issue, nissan sentra, cottman transmissions

Question
Hello.
I have a Nissan Sentra 2004 which runs well but occasionally no matter if the engine is cold or warm there would be a problem when starting the car. The engine turns and RPMs jump to 1500-1800 hundred and then the RPMs fall to almost 0 at which point engine starts choking and it either turns off OR recovers and RPMs come back to 700 RPMs. Any ideas as what might be causing this and what to do to prevent bigger problems?
Any advice greatly appreciated - Thanks - Boban

Answer
Hi Boban,

Take your down to a place that can scan it. They will tell you what that check engine light means. Cottman Transmissions will do this for free and I think Aamco is doing it for free now also. If you like, you are welcome to re-submit to me the code number and I will be glad to go over it with you in detail.
