Question -
I have a 2001 Frontier 2WD 4CYL reg cab 145,000mi. I had front brakes put on by a mechanic(not Nissan) since then occasionally when I apply the brakes I hear a loud snap in one of the wheels, sounds like drivers side. I took the wheels off and noticed nothing unusal(I usually do my own brakes). The mechanic took it apart and found nothing, all clips etc. in place. The truck rides fine, no pulling or excessive wear, I do mostly highway. Any ideas? Thank you, Rich

Answer -
Jack that side of the car up and place a prybar under the tire and lift. Is that the noise you heard?

Answer
Because you said it sounds like the drivers side, jack up that side and have someone sit in the car and you spin the wheel, have the other person apply the brakes.
It sounds like it could be the brake pad moving back and forth. The snapping sound should be the pad stopping against the steel.
