Nissan Repair: 93 Nissan Altima - spent 1,800 still not fixed, nissan altima, enterior

Question
I bought a 1993 Nissan Altima from a physician for $2,000.  It had 112,000 miles on it so I thought it was a good deal since these cars are supposed to get upward of 150-175,000 miles. At the time it had some minor interior rattles, but I chalked it up to the age of the car.  Well, after a few weeks all hell broke loose.  Severe rattling in the engine, severe vibrations throughout the enterior of the car.  Serpentine belt was replaced.  Then was told timing chain about to break so shelled out $1,200 for this repair job.  After repair, the engine continued to vibrate severely and when I come to a stop sign the engine is making a stressed noise......rrrrrrr sound (very noticible) but not while vehicle in motion.  Took back to mechanic which told me I needed to have the water pump replaced and a tuneup and it should purr like a kitten. Another $570 down the drain.  The original noises are louder than ever.  Vibrations in engine and hood are so severe it is tearing everything in the enterior of car loose.  There are rattles in the doors, windows, dash, you name it.  $1,800 later and I'm stuck with a car I cannot even sell.  It is a rattletrap.  The mechanic said they did their job, so don't know why car is still vibrating and making noise. Bottom line:  After all this repair do you know what would be causing all this vibration and RRRRRRR noises in the engine of this car?  Please HELP!  I need to take some kind of action against these mechanics who %##%@* me over.  They were supposed to be engine experts.  I live in Independence Missouri.   Leslie (Female).

Answer
Leslie,
If ya lived closer, I'd check it out myself.
But, seeing how I cant,
A good garage will give you an estimate of what the problems are with your car. Then, if the problem is'nt resolved, ask them if they will pay for the work they have done.
Basically, ask them to warranty or guarentee the work.
If they aren't exactly sure what is wrong with it, give them a chance to list everything they can find without charging a diagnostic fee.
Then shop around!!!
Hope this helps
