Nissan Repair: 97 nissan hardbody 4 wd, nissan hardbody, exhaust catalyst

i have a 97 nissan hardbody 4x4... it seems to miss when accelerating... i have changed fuel filter,spark plugs and wires, distributor, and rotor... my check engine light is on, auto parts retailers tell me that the light is on because of blockage of carbon or some sort...... maybe with the exhaust? (catalyst converter and muffler have both been changed)... what could be the problem?

This sounds like the exhaust recirculation valve or the port that feeds exhaust to or from it is blocked.  This happens after this many years.  You might need to remove the pipe that feeds it and the valve itself and clean everything out and reset the code.  If the valve does not work when vacuum is applied then you need to replace it.  if it is sticking it will cause the miss you describe.
