Nissan Repair: Nissan Maxima 95 engine/sensor problem, nissan maxima, power steering pump

Question
110k, the check engine light is suddenly on but it's drivrable. The engine stopped and could not start while I waited for a left turn. After turn the power off and wait a few minutes, it can start again.AAA made a check but tell me no code number. They said I need replace the knock sensor, harness and gasket. I asked another workshop to change the knock sensor. But the light is still on.
"I'm luck to have found another adaptor on my car. The erro code is erased and light
off. But, I had new problem. The car loses power sometimes. engine stops, all lights on!!! if you ignite again, it's ok to drive, but who knows when it will stop again.
I can hardly scan it again as Autozone said, it can only be done when the light is on. Most of the time, it's off. But there should be some other fatal problem not
solved.
HELP!

Answer
Bin,

If the light is off no code is detected and you are probably looking at a tune up or perhaps a dirty fuel filter.  I would do a baseline tune to make sure the car is running properly and clean the throttle body.  If the error code was a knock sensor and you had it replaced and the code is gone then we are looking at something else. And, if they changed the knock sensor there is the possiblity of a cracked vacuum line too.  But, if it were me I would change the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter and clean the throttle body and you should be good.  I say this since you say it dies at idle when you are turning.  When you turn the power steering pump sends a signal to set the idle up and it is probably not getting it up enough due to the state of tune on the engine.  Check it out and email me back.
