Nissan Repair: Maxima hesitatation while accelerating, platinum plugs, autolite

Question
My 1996 Maxima SE (V6, 176,000 miles) hesitates around 3000rpm under moderate to heavy acceleration.  I am usually in the 2nd gear at this point and the car seems to pause for a moment, then resume accelerating.

I would change the plugs if you have not.  Try platinum plugs like Autolite or NGK.  I have had good luck with these plugs.  Also, if the fuel filter has not been changed I would change it too.  If you use regular put a couple of tanks of premium in to clean things out.
