Nissan Repair: 82 280zx stalling, spark plug wires, engine fires

Question
1982 Datsun 280zx non-turbo.  Bought/used sporatically for 2 months, ran great (stalled once after a short stop).  Now...starts great, drives great, stop, return 5-10 minutes later, restarts and drives about 1000 feet, engine cuts out (gauges remain functioning).  Pull over, engine rolls over but won't fire/start. One minute later, turn key, engine fires right up and continue on your way without incident until next stop, repeats.  Checked/changed bad coil...same problem.  One week later (driven daily), problem repeats more often after first stop and waited 15 minutes in parking lot before engine would restart.  Fuel Pump or Injector relay switches?  Little "black box" on side of distributor?  Thanks for any insite (parked until response/repair).  Thanks.

Answer
John,

You are on the right path with the fuel pump or relay or the black box.  To be sure check for fire to the plugs when the car dies.  Get out and have someone crank it over while you take one of the spark plug wires off and get a paper clip and insert it in the boot and hold it about a quarter of an inch from the engine.  If there is no spark it is the black box and if it is not then the fuel pump or relay has gone out.  The relay usually goes first.
