Nissan Repair: timing chain replacement, timing chain replacement, quality gaskets

SIR,I HAVE A 1990 NISSAN SENTRA,4CYL,CARB,AUTO.HEARD A METAL SOUND,PULLED VALVECOVER AND FOUND THAT THE TCHAIN IS BUBBING IN THE SIDE OF THE COVER.OK HAS NO BE REPLACED,TENSONER IS MAXED OUT.ARE THERE ANY SUPRISES THAT IM GETTING INTO?OR IS IT AS STRAIGHT FORWARD AS THE BOOK SHOW?DO I HAVE TO REMOVE THE OIL PAN?THIS IS MY 1ST MAJOR FORIEGN CAR REPAIR.THANKYOU FOR YOUR TIME.

It is an easy replacement.  Be sure to replace the tensioner and if the cover is damaged replace it too or you will be looking at a leak.  The big part here is to make sure you line it up on number one before you take the chain off and keep everything clean and that means no gasket material in the engine.  If it gets in the oil pump it will lock it up.  Use quality gaskets and sealants.
