Volkswagen: Remote keyless entry, vw golf 1, key fobs

I purchased a VW golf 1.4 sx 02 reg for my partner last year but it didn't have remote and  I would like to setup this facility as a present.

I have spotted on EBAY people selling VW Key fobs but am unsure whether they will work and secondly on how to check the FCC id to see if will be compatible OR whether they include all I need.

if it does not have remote keys, then it will not be equiped with the remote reciever. this is not something that can be retro-fitted. so your only real option is to have an alarm system fitted that has a central locking interface. that is providing the car has central locking.
