Nissan Repair: car problems, fuse block, nissan quest

Question
Hello again,

Sorry I just found out from my husband that it does start up when you are pushing the gas pedal but dies out once you take your foot off the gas pedal or within a few seconds of holding the gas pedal down(whichever happens first).

Any ideas?  We really need this van.

Hello,

I have a 1995 Nissan Quest.  A few months ago it wouldn't start up.  I was told that it could be becasue of my fuel pump.  WHen I purchased it, it wasn't working. I don't know if this is the problem or how I can check if it is.  All I know is that it won't start and the check engine light was always on when I purchased it used.

I would greatly appreciate any tips you have.

HI Venessa,

Well, where to start? Two things make an engine run; spark and fuel. We need to determine which is causing your problem. Check all the fuses. Under the hood there is a fuse block. Open it and you will see some larger square silver relays. If you didn't find a bad fuse then pull out the one will be labeled fuel pump or something like that and replace it with one for the headlights or horn. It doesn't matter because they are all the same. After you replace it with another one try cranking it. Resubmit to me what you came up with.

Answer
Hi V,

Well, that's very different and narrows it down somewhat. Try replacing the fuel filter first. If that doesn't help, this is going to end up being a bad sensor of some sort. To really help you much further, I need to know what codes are present if a fuel filter doesn't do the trick.
