Nissan Repair: 2000 maxima stalling only in reverse, mass airflow sensor, haynes manual

Question
i have a 2000 maxima with 40,000 miles on it.  Lately the car started stalling only when i n reverse and the service engine soon light goes on.  I took it to 2 different mechanics and they both plug it into the computer and they say replace tempurature sensor. Did that twice but the light still comes on and its still stalling.

Any ideas- I would greatly appreciate it

Answer
Issac,

First I would do a tuneup to make sure the systems are in good order.  Yes, it only has 40 K on the clock but it is a 2000.  Other problems with a 2000 are the coils and that is probably the real problem here.  I would get a Haynes manual for reference and then check the mass airflow sensor as these are known to fail like the coils.  But, first the tuneup and the coils, that is, if they have not already been replaced.  Part of the tuneup should include cleaning the throttle body.  Issac, email me back if you have questions.
