Nissan Repair: 97 nissan altima, crankshaft position sensor, nissan altima

Question
my car kept dying while i was driving it so i took it to autozone and they said it was the crankshaft position sensor.i replaced it and the check engine light went out but its still dying as im driving...the egr valve also needs to be replaced but ive been cleaning it out w/ carbon cleaner and the check engine light is staying off...help! i dont know whats causeing this?

Answer
Brandy,

The EGR valve should be replaced first.  This will cause the car to die as you state.  Also, the sensor that determines that the EGR valve is actuating might need to be replaced.  But, I would change the EGR valve first and then reset the computer.
