Nissan Repair: Fuel pump relay, fuel pump relay, open flames

Question
Von

I am in the process of changing the fuel filter in my '90 300zx.  Need to release fuel pressure.  Where is the fuel pump relay located?  I can not make it out on the diagram within my manual.

Thanx much...............

Answer
Chuck,

No need to find the relay.  Disconnect the battery and then bleed off pressure using the schrader valve in the fuel rail located on the engine.  It looks like a valve stem cap  from a tire only smaller.  Then you can change the filter.  I like to remove the fuel cap to let pressure off there and then put the cap back on so fuel does not siphon on you.  You will get some gas but these two steps limit it.  Also, be sure no drop lights are around or open flames to eliminate a fire potential.  Also, have someone at the ready with a fire extinguisher.
