Hi and thanks for the answer to my previous question on 7/21 about the hesitation under load on my 75K 2001 Sentra. Wanted to know if there is a self diagnostic test that can be done on the coils to figure out if that's my hesitation under load problem. Hate to pay a dealer to diagnose. Also, could this be a clogged injector problem? Can the MAF sensor be changed by a layman? Thanks.

You need to get a factory manual.  You can get it on line at nissanusa.com as a .pdf file and it only costs $20 bucks for an hour of access.  You can download the works.  I say this because you need the values to check the coils.  Basically, you get a volt/ohm meter and check each coil against the chart in the manual.  

You have to get an adapter to check the fuel pressure to see if the injectors are defective.  Now, if you have not put spark plugs in yet that might be the cause of this problem you are describing.  Always, do the basics first.  75,000 miles change the plugs and filter and PCV.

The MAF is a plug and play operation.  But, be sure you disconnect the battery first.  You do not want to fry the new one.  Just two clamps and the connection is a snap.

Thanks for the info. Had a diagnostic test done at Pep Boys today and they recieved no error codes for elctric, fuel and they tested the transmission diagnostic. They thought after everything else was negative that maybe it was my torque converter. I assume I have now ruled out injectors, electrical and transmission. The car still has a hesitation and loss of power, so I am back to the drawing board. Plugs changed, air filter and PVC changed,diagnostic checks done, what's next? MAF looks like some type of bolt I have never seen b4, with some type of pin looking device in the center of the bolts. Thanks

I do not want to tell you to throw parts at the problem.  But, on your car, with no codes present, and the tuneup and such I think the MAF or coils are bad.  The MAF is pricy as are the coils.  Neither of these will set a fault code so it is the luck of the draw as to which one is defective.  Now, get a manual and check the ohm values on the coils and that will help you in making your decision.
