Nissan Repair: AC Compressor 99 Maxima, ac compressors, pep boys

Question
The bearings for my pully on my ac compressor are toast.  Nissan only sales the the compressor pully/clutch together around the $450's.  Auto Zone, Checker and Pep Boys sell the unit around $250's.  So I bought one from checker and the low vaulve on the compressor wasn't deep enough for the tub to fit in.  I returned it and looked to replace the bearings and the pulley comes manufactured with the bearings in one piece.  So my question is why do the ac compressors from the auto stores not fit?  The only other option is pull the compressors from a junkyard and match up the low vaulve.  The Maxima was made 02/99.  Is there a different compressor for the newer 99 models?

Answer
Josh,

A good parts store should be able to match yours up.  I would try another parts store like Autozone or Checker and see what they have.  There are model differences in production that mess things up and you might have one where things changed on the production line.
